Dr. Andrew Yip
Architect of Cross-Continental Impact
Research Scientist at KAUST, where I shape mission-led food research strategy and the translational pathways behind Saudi food security. Fifteen years in the Kingdom designing accelerators, open-innovation challenges, pilots, and academic programs that turn technical capability into funded ventures, partnerships, and deployed technology.
The Integrator's Mindset
For fifteen years in Saudi Arabia, I've architected complex, cross-border initiatives. My practice: connect disparate domains—research and market demand, cultural heritage and digital platforms, regional strategy and grassroots innovation—to unlock new value.
I operate systemically. Identify the leverage points where technology and collaboration unlock economic, social, and scientific value. My toolkit spans rigorous analysis, deep contextual empathy, and executable models—whether advancing translational research, architecting for governments, advising national agencies, or mentoring ventures from concept to market.
Currently, I serve as Research Scientist – Food Strategic Initiatives at KAUST, Chief Representative for WAFI Middle East, and Co-Founder of CIV Middle East, a cultural-innovation-venture platform bridging Saudi Arabia and China. Previously Head of Innovation & Ecosystem Activation at NEOM Food (2021–2025), where I secured 2.6M SAR in external R&D grants at zero net cost and mobilized 6M SAR in venture studio resources. My work advances food security, Saudi Vision 2030, and South-South cooperation frameworks.
